Key moments from Day 10 of the trial of Derek Chauvin
Derek Chauvin is being put on trial over the killing & death of George Floyd. Here are key moments based on witness testimony and evidence of day ten (10) of the trials.
Day Ten (10) of the Trial of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd has concluded. Admittingly I haven't reviewed day nine (9) of testimonies , but judging by many independent journalists , Seems that most of the stuff has already been covered for day nine. These are the notes and key moments of day ten (10) of Mr. Chauvins trial. All points are strictly based on witness testimony & evidence presented by the prosecution and does not reflect any personal bias that I may or may not have.
Prosecution calls Dr. Lindsey Carol Thomas, a pathologist. She is giving her opinion on what she believes was the cause of death of Mr. Floyd which was strangulation by officer Derek Chauvin
Dr. Lindsey Carol Thomas has stated the cause of death was disfixiah or low oxygen.
Dr Lindsey Carol Thomas testified Chauvins Knee blocked all airways causing Floyd to suffocate.
Observation: This Dr. Lindsey Carol Thomas seems very eager/excited to testify. It also seems as if she was coached on her testimony. She seems to be very well aware of the questions before they are asked and simply seems very happy to be testifying.
Floyds death certificate states cardiac arrest complicating law enforcement subdual and restraint, as primary cause of death. Contributing conditions are Heart disease, Fentanyl intoxication, & recent meth use. This was the official ruling on George Floyds death certificate.
Dr. Lindsey Carol says that “Contributing conditions” on the death certificate means that those things did NOT at all have anything to do with George Floyds death.
Most questions asked of Dr. Lindsey Carol are basic questions like “Why does a person need oxygen” as well as her own professional opinion on the cause of death of George Floyd to which she completely ruled out everything except for Derek Chauvin’s knee on the neck of Mr. Floyd.
Dr. Lindsey Carol admits George Floyds heart was abnormally larger than it was supposed to be which is consistent with George Floyds history of high blood pressure.
Dr Lindsey Carol also admits that when a person who has died has a c02 carbon level that is 80% or higher - can result in high c02 being the cause of death of said patient. George Floyd had 100% c02 levels.
Dr Lindsey Carol has also stated that George Floyd’s artery in his heart was constricted.
Dr Lindsey Carol confirms a study done from over 1,000,000 police interactions 3,000 of those resulted in detainment of the suspect being in the prone position on the ground similarly to the George Floyd encounter. None of those interactions resulted in the death of the suspect.
Dr Lindsey Carol Admits that she did not take officer Chauvin’s under consideration when making the observation to the cause of death of George Floyd.
Dr Lindsey Carol testified that upon examination of George Floyds body, no bruising or markings were found on George Floyds neck.
Dr Lindsey Carol testified that there are also no bruise marks or bleeding into the muscle tissue on George Floyds back.
Dr Lindsey Carol Testified that there is no visible evidence of pressure being applied to George Floyds back or neck.
Dr Lindsey Carol testifies that shortness of breath, visual irregularities , incoherent speech , and restlessness are all symptoms of lack of oxygen to a person's brain.
Dr. Lindsey Carol testified that George Floyd appeared confused during the 9 minutes he was restrained. She also agrees that George Floyd had an open airway during the time he was talking.
Dr Lindsey Carol agrees that the combination of Meth & adrenaline will speed up a person's heart causing the heart to work much harder & faster.
70-75% (or above) constriction of a person's artery on their heart, can be fatal to the person. George Floyds artery was 98% constricted.
Dr Lindsey Carol agrees that Fentanyl is a respiratory depressant. It slows breathing and oxygen in the person's blood.
Dr Lindsey Carol also agrees that Fentanyl can gradually cause a decrease in oxygen to a person's brain and heart.
Dr Lindsey Carol also testifies that there is no safe level of meth to prevent death.
Dr. Lindsey Carol testifies that drugs were found on the backseat of the police car & it contained the DNA of George Floyd. Those drugs were also partially dissolved and contained a mixture of Fentanyl & Meth.
Dr. Lindsey Carol testifies that if there was a person who was found dead in their apartment alone & had the same toxicology report as George Floyd, she would rule that as an overdose.
Dr. Andrew Baker was the medical examiner who conducted the autopsy on George Floyd.
Dr Andrew Baker testified that the drugs and heart disease both played a role in George Floyds death.
Dr Andrew Baker testified that he has not watched the video of what happened to George Floyd prior to conducting the autopsy on Mr. Floyd. He only saw the videos and found out what happened in that situation after conducting his autopsy.
Dr Andrew Baker testified that the heart was dilated (bigger than normal) due to the high blood pressure of Mr. Floyd. For a person of George Floyds weight and height his normal heart's weight would be 510-521 grams. George floyds heart weight at the time of autopsy was 540 grams. The larger the heart - the more oxygen and blood it would need.
If a person's heart goes from having a regular heart beat - to - an irregular heartbeat, it can cause sudden death for that person according to Dr. Andrew Baker’s testimony.
Dr. Andrew Baker testified that Meth has a heavy load on the heart and blood pressure. It may also cause immediate death when a person has a heart disease like the one George Floyd had.
Dr. Andrew Baker testified that it didn't appear to him that Chauvin had his knee on George Floyds neck.
Judging by all of the evidence and testimonies on the behalf of the prosecution, In my opinion there is enough to raise reasonable doubt as to if Derek Chauvin is guilty or not. The jury determines whether a defendant is guilty or not based on testimony and evidence. However if any of the jurors have any shred of doubt , then they would be forced to rule “not guilty”. Doctor Lindsey Carol Thomas seemed very prepared and almost excited to answer questions of the prosecution. However when the defense cross examined the witness , her attitude quickly changed. She suddenly seems confused and unsure of her answers. Now please remember this is based on what has come to light so far and by no means , is this an opinion of a law expert. I could be wrong in my prediction.
