Derek Chauvin May Not Get A Big Sentence , Heres Why ..
As the fate of Derek Chauvin lies in Judge Peter Cahill’s hands, pressure for justice is increasing.
It’s been about two months since Ex-Cop Derek Chauvin has been convicted of all charges including murder and manslaughter. This upcoming Friday, will be the ‘season finale’ as Judge Peter Cahill prepares to issue Derek Chauvin’s punishment. Most people think that Chauvin will be slapped with a 15-20 year sentence. However, I believe that chauvin is looking at roughly 8-10 years.
Remember Amber Guyger? On September 6th 2018 a Dallas Police officer Named Amber Guyger , walked into the apartment of a blackman & shot him for no reason. Her claim is that she thought she was walking into her own house. She was found guilty of murder and recieved 10 years in prison. Chauvin has his right to equal justice under the law. There is no way the judge can issue more than 10 years. If it wasn't for the culture war & political pressure, Chauvin would probably be facing a 4-5 year sentence.
People won't be happy and they will riot regardless of what kind of sentence is issued. Regardless of what the sentencing outcome will be, Chauvins defense has multiple strong cases for re-trial, & potentially be granted a mistrial. The jury was tainted, Judge Cahill failed to sequester the jury, & there were conflicts of interest from the jury. There was also political pressure. Best example of that would be California Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D) who arrived in Minnesota to threaten violence publically, if Derek Chauvin wasnt committed of 1st degree murder, a charge that never has been filed agianst Chauvin.
If you think that there is no chance for Derek Chauvin to be allowed to file appeals on his case, then look no further than Amber Guygers case. Ambers legal team have filed motions to appeal her plea in search of a reduced sentence and reduced charges. It is in our constitution that says Americans have the right to legal and fair justice applied to everyone equally.
At the end of the day no matter what end result we get to this ‘George Floyd Saga’, people will be mad. If we cannot apply equal justice , then there is no justice at all. One thing is certain, it sure sucks being Judge Cahill.
